Op 6 juni vergaderde het zendingsteam. Een speciale vergadering in het Derdepoort Park.
Op verzoek van dr. Arjan de Visser denken we na over zendingsmethodiek. In juli komt De Visser tijdens een speciale conferentie hierover spreken.
Wat willen we aan hem voorleggen?
Uit de notulen, geschreven door Sam Mathlokoane:
It was discussed in the meeting that after members’ confirmation, members become confused and do not know what to do. It is like after confirmation they have reached their goal. In essence there is no reason for members to grow further in the Lord or to exercise their faith.
It is more like some members do not know why they were confirmed. In other words, people are active and showing the willingness to become members, but as soon as they are confirmed, their zeal disappears and they only come to church on Sunday.
It was further discussed that active members are withdrawing from the church, because there is nothing to do after confirmation. They want to do something more in the church other than attending on Sundays. They want to have a sense of ‘I belong here. This is my church.’ But there is nothing. We do not encourage them to use their spiritual gifts.
Therefore, they feel that they are dead in the church and actually withdraw from the church. They join churches like the charismatics, because they have activities after becoming members. They have e.g. worshipping teams, prayer warriors and evangelism teams – to mention few – and everyone is welcome in those groups. Unfortunately you don’t find such activities in our church.
Waar heb ik dit eerder gehoord? O ja, in Amersfoort. Bekende thema’s.
